One of our more recent Longmont projects involved our client choosing to renovate the open area above the entrance of the home. This was, essentially, wasted space that was transformed into a functional home office/home workspace. The photo below shows the open area, without flooring, and was an ideal part of the home to incorporate a home office.
Home Office Renovation (Before)
The renovation included the removal of the railing at the landing. The wall to the right of the window was moved back to allow for more floor space. We extended the half wall along the stairs and installed a floor, creating a new addition to the home. Built ins were also included to provide additional storage space for this smaller office remodel. Utilizing this area of the home for the renovation eliminated the need for our client to sacrifice other valuable floor space and provided the client with a very functional, semi-private home office with adequate lighting, as seen in the picture below.
